Lisbon - Trip advisor

This summer, I did an interrail trip through Spain and as I've heard so many nice things about Lisbon I just decided to make a stop in Lisbon as well. And if you have never been, let me just tell you, the beauty of this city will let you speechless. Lisbon is just utterly stunning and I fell in love the moment I saw it.

I immediately knew that I had to go back to this magic place as soon as possible.Besides the fact that I am going back next summer for 10 days, I couldn't wait for a whole year, so I'm going in 4 weeks, just for the weekend, 26.-29.11.I'm gonna meet my best friend there, who currently lives in Peniche, 1,5 hours from Lisbon and we are gonna have an amazing girl's weekend :-)I plan on doing a lot more this weekend, so I have quite a big to do list and I'll be happy if I get through half of it.
So here are some of my tips on Lisbon.
Lisbon - Places to see

Monument to the Discoveries
This is a monument everyone who visits Lisbon has to see, it's in every guide book.
I didn't manage to see it during my stay this summer so I definitely plan on seeing it in November.
The name already says what it's supposed to represent. It's very impressive with its height(50m) and represents many heroes of portuguese history like Vasco da Gama.

Torre de Belém
Just like the Monument to the Discoveries, the Torre de Belém, as the name says, is located in Belém, an area in Lisbon.
It role was the defender of the entrance of the River Tagus, but with more modern defences built it lost that role and later also served as a political prison

Ponte 25 de abril

For those of us who aren't lucky enough to visit San Francisco, this construction looks very similar to the Golden Gate Bridge.

 Lisbon - Where to Stay

 Travellers House
This is absolutely, without any doubt, the best hostel I have ever stayed in( not in Portugal, but in Europe in general).
It's nothing like the cramped, dirty, loud places you think of when thinking about a hostel. It's pure luxury, very clean, wide big rooms, stylish common areas( see picture, need to say more?).
It's located in Rua Augusta, one of the most important streets in Lisbon, close to everything.

The staff is super nice, if you get lucky, one of the guys may even carry your luggage to your room.
You have free breakfast included in the price( toast and eggs).
And big plus: They have trips and activities organised every night ( discovery of traditional portuguese food, of portuguese wine) and if you wish they'll take you pub hubbing. Perfection.

Lisbon - Shopping

These are some places I plan on checking out during my stay :

Feira da Ladra
Oldest and biggest flea market in Lisbon
Tuesday and Saturday
Campo da Santa Clara, Alfama

Uma Vida Portuguesa
11 Rua Anchieta
A Fabrica dos Chapéus
A shop where you can get gorgeous hats for even better prizes. Sounds like the perfect spot for a hat-loving girl like me.
Rua da Rosa, 139, Bairro Alto

And some second hand shops :
El Dorado, 23-25 Rua da Norte, Bairro Alto
Bad Lux, 91 Rua da Norte, Bairro Alto
A outra face de lua, 22 Rua de Assunçao, Baixa
Lisbon - Food

Some of the food I plan on trying, besides the fish and portuguese wine, :

Tease Bakery
31-33 Rua do Norte

Noori
87 Rua do Crucifixo
sushi cones, menu 7,50

Fabrica dos Pasteis de Belém
84-92 Rua de Belém
Then of course I will try and eat as many pasteis de nata as possible.
These are the most famous portuguese pastries,
and although they are sold in almost every bakery,
the original ones and the best ones you have to get them here.

I'm looking forward to my trip to Lisbon and I'll be back with loads of pictures!
